Volunteering
As a Swindon-based charity, we understand local services, challenges, and communities. That means our advice is practical, relevant, and rooted in real-world experience. We work closely with local organisations, health services and community partners to ensure autistic adults are heard and supported across Swindon.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do
We believe that volunteering should be a safe and enjoyable activity and there are a few ways that you can give your time at DASH:
- Help out at our clubs or activities
- Give us a hand with some fundraising – at our fete, or perhaps at a coffee morning
- Be part of our wellbeing call team
- Sort out some of our office tasks
Get in touch. We provide full training, and we’re a friendly bunch so you’ll make friends for life.
Benefits of volunteering for DASH
- Learn new skills!
- Bring your own skills to help others
- It’s a good way to meet people
- Volunteering is brilliant for your university or job applications – you stand out from the crowd!
- Know that you are having a good impact
Meet People & Learn New Skills
It’s a brilliant way to meet people, especially if you are new to the area. And you will be fully supported and trained so you can look forward to your role.
Enhance Employability Skills
If you are applying for a job or a university place, it’s a good way of standing out from the crowd if you can say you volunteer at DASH. We are happy to provide references for our volunteers, and sometimes that’s the difference between getting a place or not.
Feel Good & Enhance Well Being
Volunteering will make you feel good about yourself – you are spending your time constructively, and the voluntary role will have some amazing outcomes.
Ways you can volunteer with us
- At our clubs or activities – we are always keen to hear from people who like meeting others and can help keep conversations going.
- In our office, we very much need someone who can help with keeping us well organised.
- With fundraising – we can only do the work we do if we have the funds to help people
- If you are a creative type, perhaps you could make us some items to sell at our fete
Supporting groups
We have different groups that meet at various times of the week and we always need volunteers to help with these.
Helping at events
We have an annual fete where you can help at one of the stalls or help to make some of the refreshments. Or perhaps you would help at one of our bingo nights, or BBQs.
Sharing skills
We need people who can make some of our wellbeing calls, or help us at our training events. If you have skills to share, please get in touch.
